Jane McAdam Freud Gives Art Career Advice. Art Discussion

About the artist:

General: Jane McAdam Freud is the daughter of Lucian Freud and Katherine McAdam. Her multi-disciplinary practice includes sculpture, drawing, print and digital media. Jane has written several papers and speaks at conferences about her work and manifesto. See link below.

Education: Jane received her first degree from Central School of Art, London, was awarded the British Art Medal Scholarship in Rome and is a graduate of the Royal College of Art where she studied under the supervision of John Stetzeker and Edwardo Paolozzi, both of who have had an influence on her sculptors practice.

Professional Bodies: Fellow of the Royal Society of British Sculptors since 1997. Granted the ancient honorary decree on merit of Freedom of the City of London in 1991.

Shows: Represented by Gazelli Art House, Mayfair, London and CE Contemporary Gallery, Milan. Exhibits in the USA, Asia and Europe. Solo shows in the UK include the Ashmolean Museum-Oxford, Fitzwilliam Museum-Cambridge, Hunterian Museum-Glasgow, Freud Museum-London and the major psychoanalytic institutes. International solo shows include The Contemporary-St Louis-USA, the Pushkin Museum of Fine Art, Moscow and the Sundaram Tagore Gallery in NY and LA, USA (see full CV on the link below).

Teaching: Taught at several London art schools including the Royal College of Art and has lectured at Kingston School of Art, Wimbledon School of Art, the Royal Academy of Fine Arts, Antwerp, Webster University, St Louis, USA and at R.M.I.T., Melbourne, Australia. Currently an Associate Lecturer at Central St Martins, London and sculpture tutor at Morley College, London.

Permanent Collections: Works represented in major national and international public collections. The British Museum made their first acquisition in 1979 while a student at the Central. Other national collections include the V&A, National Gallery archives, Ashmolean and Fitzwilliam Museums. International public collections include the National Gallery of Greece, Berlin State Museum, National Museum of Copenhagen and the Carnegie Museum of Art and Brooklyn Museum USA.
